A venue that matches the album
Music industry events are about atmosphere first, capacity second. The right room shapes how a record gets received; the press take, the social moments, the photos that circulate the next morning. Hollywood Distillery is a former 1920s mortuary on Santa Monica Boulevard with 30-foot ceilings, factory-glass windows along the north wall, a 1,000-gallon copper Vendome still as the centerpiece, and a refurbished tasting room that doubles as a listening lounge. Most LA listening parties end up at hotels or dedicated event spaces; we offer something with more period character and built-in story.
The room handles 90 standing comfortably, up to 200 with full buyout. Custom cocktail menus get built around the album; cocktail names tied to track names, drink palette matched to album artwork, ingredients riffing on lyrics or themes.
Format options
- Intimate listening session. 30–60 guests, the artist plays the album front-to-back through our system, custom cocktail menu, dinner-adjacent format. Best for albums where every track wants attention.
- Standing listening party. 80–180 guests, custom cocktail menu, the album plays through twice with a short artist Q&A in between. Most listening parties.
- Full buyout with afterparty. Listening session early, then the space converts to a bar takeover for the rest of the night. Up to 200 standing.
- Press preview. 20–40 journalists in a smaller, more controlled setting. Album plays once, artist answers questions, embargoed listening. Custom cocktails and a tight catered dinner.
The cocktail program
This is where listening parties differentiate. Tell us about the album — the title, a few lyrics that matter, the cover art, the production location — and we'll build a four-cocktail menu around it. Cocktails get printed cards explaining the connection. The bartender pours "Track 3" while the song plays. Press notice. Photos circulate.
Sound and tech
The space has a quality in-house PA system suitable for full-album playback at listening-party volumes (no live concert volumes). Bring your own A/V production for anything more elaborate. Wired and wireless inputs available. Lighting is theatrical Edison-bulb cafe strings overhead with adjustable accent lighting on the still.
