If you're looking for distillery tours in LA this weekend, the practical truth is: most of the city's working distilleries don't run tours on weekends, or they run them only on Saturday afternoon. Hollywood Distillery is one of the few that operates a full weekend schedule — tours Thursday through Sunday, with Saturday and Sunday being the days the still is most likely to be running while you're standing next to it.

This page covers what's different about the weekend tour, when distillation actually happens, the best slots to book, and how to plan a Saturday or Sunday around the distillery.
What's different about a weekend tour
The most-asked question we get is some version of: "will the still actually be running?" The honest answer is: most likely yes on a weekend. Distillation runs are typically scheduled Saturday daytime through Sunday afternoon, which means weekend tours are the ones where you're most likely to see steam, smell the high-proof cut, and watch a real distillation in progress rather than admire a polished copper sculpture.
That said, the schedule shifts week to week (some weeks we run Thursday–Saturday instead). The still is always there — twenty feet of polished copper rising into the rafters — and even on a non-running day the tour is fully worthwhile. But if seeing a real distillation in progress is the thing that matters to you, weekend afternoons are your best odds.
Saturday or Sunday
The two days have slightly different energies:
Saturday
The most-booked day. Saturday tours run from late morning through early evening. Energy is high, the tasting room is busier, and the bar pours custom Saturday cocktails alongside the standard tasting flight. If you want the social vibe — a tour with other groups, a buzzy tasting room afterward — Saturday is the day. Tours from 11am through 6pm, every two hours.
Sunday
Quieter, more relaxed. Sunday tours run from noon through early afternoon. The mood is unhurried; the tasting flight is the same but the surrounding pace is slower. If you want a more contemplative tour — fewer other groups, more time for the guide to take questions, post-tour bottle shopping at your own pace — Sunday is your day. Tours from noon through 4pm, every two hours.
Both days the tour is the same shape: ~60 minutes, group cap of twelve, four-spirit tasting flight, $30 per guest.
The best weekend slots to book
If you're choosing among multiple available slots:
- Saturday 1pm or 3pm. Prime time. The still is most likely to be in active distillation. Tasting room is at peak energy. Book two weeks ahead minimum.
- Saturday 5pm. The pre-dinner slot. Roll directly into a Saturday-night dinner along Sunset or Vine after.
- Sunday 2pm. The most-relaxed slot in our weekly schedule. Minimal rush, full attention from the guide, slow tasting.
- Sunday noon. The brunch-after-tour move — tour first, brunch in Larchmont or Los Feliz after.
A complete weekend plan
The distillery is the kind of activity you can build a half-day or full-day around. Two templates we see groups use most:
The Saturday template
- 11am — Late breakfast or brunch in Los Feliz, Larchmont, or West Hollywood.
- 1pm or 3pm — Distillery tour. Sixty minutes including the tasting flight.
- 4pm — Optional: linger in the tasting room for an additional cocktail and a bottle to take home.
- 6pm — Cocktails or early dinner along Vine, Sunset, or back at the W Hollywood.
- 8pm — Dinner proper. The blocks south of the distillery are dense with restaurants worth booking.
The Sunday template
- 10am — Hike Runyon Canyon or the Bronson Caves trail, both in the foothills above Hollywood.
- 12pm — Lunch or late brunch in Hollywood.
- 2pm — Distillery tour. The most-relaxed slot of our week.
- 3:30pm — Coffee or pastry on Larchmont.
- 5pm — Dinner reservation if you have one. Or roll home and pour the bottle you bought.
