Summer vodka cocktails should be cold, bright, and easy to make for a group. Citrus-forward, low on heavy syrups, refreshing in the hand and the throat. Here are five recipes built around our date-based Oasis Vodka, each one designed for hot afternoons and porch sitting.
1. The vodka tonic, but better
2 oz Oasis Vodka over a tall glass of ice. Top with quality tonic (Fever-Tree). Squeeze and drop a wedge of pink grapefruit. Stir once. Drink immediately. The pink grapefruit instead of lime is the move.
2. Watermelon cooler
Muddle a few cubes of fresh watermelon in a shaker. Add 2 oz Oasis Vodka, 0.5 oz lime juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup. Shake with ice, double-strain into a tall glass over fresh ice. Top with soda water. Garnish with mint.
3. Basil-lemon spritz
Muddle four basil leaves with 0.5 oz lemon juice in a glass. Add 2 oz Oasis Vodka and ice. Top with soda water and a splash of dry sparkling wine. The drink that makes people ask what's in it.
4. Cucumber collins
Muddle three thin cucumber slices in a shaker. Add 2 oz Oasis Vodka, 0.75 oz lemon juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup. Shake with ice. Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice. Top with soda water. Garnish with a cucumber wheel.
5. Strawberry-rose vodka soda
Muddle two strawberries with 0.5 oz lemon juice. Add 2 oz Oasis Vodka and a few drops of rose water (less than you think). Shake with ice. Strain over a tall glass of ice. Top with soda water. Garnish with a strawberry slice.
