A rehearsal dinner is a smaller, weirder, more personal event than the wedding it precedes — fewer guests, more toasts, the relatives who actually know each other. The venue should match. Hollywood Distillery is a 5,000-square-foot 1920s warehouse on Santa Monica Boulevard with a working copper still as a backdrop, available for rehearsal dinners up to 90 seated guests with a custom cocktail program built around the couple.
Most rehearsal dinner venues in Los Angeles fall into one of three categories: the back room of a restaurant (fine, but indistinct), the hotel function space attached to wherever the wedding is happening (convenient but interchangeable), or a buyout of a smaller restaurant (great food, no real space identity). We're a fourth category — a working distillery with a tasting room, where the room itself is a story your guests will be telling at the wedding the next day.
Why couples choose us for rehearsal dinners
- The space tells a story. A 1,000-gallon copper Vendome pot still, a refurbished 1920s warehouse — originally a mortuary — across from Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Toasts here have a backdrop other venues don't.
- Custom cocktail menus. Tell us about the couple and we'll build a four-cocktail menu around them. "His parents' first drink together," "her grandmother's old fashioned," the cocktail you both ordered on the third date.
- Private distillery tour as the icebreaker. Add a sixty-minute tour for the group at $25 per guest. The two families meet, walk the production floor together, taste the four spirits side by side. By dinner, everyone has something to talk about.
- One level, one room. No banquet room buried in the back of a restaurant, no elevator. The whole evening happens in the space.

The shape of the night
Most rehearsal dinners we host follow a similar arc: arrival drinks at the bar with the cocktail menu we built for you, a private distillery tour for the group (sixty minutes, four-spirit flight), seated dinner in the tasting room with toasts and the rehearsal energy that comes with smaller groups, late drinks back at the bar. Total runtime is usually four to five hours.
Bar and catering
Beverage service is exclusively ours. Hosted bar from $45 per guest for two hours; premium open bar from $65 for three. Catering is open — preferred caterers who know the space, or your own kitchen-licensed caterer with insurance. The kitchen prep area handles final plating; everything else gets brought in prepped.
