Looking for a private events venue in Los Angeles that doesn't feel like a hotel ballroom or a converted loft? Hollywood Distillery is a 5,000-square-foot 1920s warehouse on Santa Monica Boulevard with a working copper still as the centerpiece, available for rehearsal dinners, brand launches, milestone birthdays, and full buyouts up to 200 guests.
Most LA venues fall into two categories: the polished hotel space where every event ends up looking like the same event, and the raw industrial loft where you're paying for square footage but doing all the styling yourself. Our space sits in between. The bones — wood-trussed ceilings, factory-glass windows, polished concrete floors — do most of the design work for you. The copper still gives you a backdrop your guests won't see anywhere else.
The space
The building is at 5975 Santa Monica Boulevard, a few blocks south of the Walk of Fame. Originally a 1920s mortuary, today it's home to a 1,000-gallon copper Vendome pot still and the first legal still operating in Hollywood in nearly a century.
The footprint breaks into three connected rooms — the production floor (with the still), the tasting room (long communal tables, retail wall), and the bar. For a private event, all three are typically used together: cocktail reception in the bar, dinner in the tasting room, photos and ambiance in the still room.
- 30-foot wood-trussed ceilings with Edison-bulb cafe lighting
- Concrete floors throughout (no carpet)
- Factory-glass windows along the north wall — natural light all day, dramatic at night
- The working copper still as a built-in backdrop
- A built-in bar with our full spirits library and a cocktail program
- ADA-accessible entrance, restrooms, and bar area

Bar and tasting packages
Beverage service is exclusively ours — we make the spirits, so we pour them. The program is flexible:
- Hosted bar. From $45 per guest for two hours. Beer, wine, and a curated cocktail menu using our spirits.
- Premium open bar. From $65 per guest for three hours. Same as above plus our reserve bourbon and rye.
- Custom cocktail menu. Designed with our bar team — tell us a theme and we'll build a four-cocktail menu around it.
- Private distillery tour. Add-on at $25 per guest. The standard tour, run privately for your group.
- Tasting flight stations. Add-on at $20 per guest.
Event types we host
Most of our calendar is rehearsal dinners and intimate weddings, brand launches and product activations, milestone birthdays, holiday parties for film and television production crews, and the occasional photo shoot. The venue lends itself to events where the host wants the space to do the work — where guests should remember the room as much as the program.
Catering
We work with a short list of preferred caterers who know the space and we're happy to coordinate. You're also welcome to bring your own kitchen-licensed caterer with proof of insurance. The kitchen prep area is small but functional; most caterers do final plating on-site.
How to book
The fastest path is the inquiry form on our private events page — it sends straight to our events team and we respond within one business day. For Saturdays in spring, summer, and December, we recommend reaching out four to six months ahead. Weekday and off-season dates are usually available with four to eight weeks of notice.
